Oklahoma! - 2022 review

Oklahoma.

A performance by Oxfordshire Youth Music Theatre

What better way to bring musical theatre back to life than this classic tale of the old west. We were thrilled to see the fantastic young performers from the Oxfordshire Youth Music Theatre return to the stage with this eagerly awaited performance of the Rodgers and Hammerstein II classic.

Sing! Sing! C’mon now! Sing!

Over three nights in March and April 2022, audiences at the Radley College Theatre were treated to a rousing adaptation of this story of hope, prosperity and community. The show’s theme was particularly relevant as this was the first performance by Oxfordshire Youth Music Theatre since the Covid-19 pandemic. It was a real joy to see these gifted young performers reconnect and grow in confidence to deliver such a heart-warming, fun and positive production.

About Oxfordshire Youth Music Theatre

Praise is also due to the dedicated and talented production team responsible for helping to stage the shows. It was fantastic to see director Edward Blagrove bring his experience and energy to inspire the players. Similarly, musical director Debbie Rose and choreographer Joanne Cook worked tirelessly to ensure the performance was such a success. Special mention must go to the Oklahoma band. Drawn from the Oxfordshire County Music Service, their musical backing provided an evocative backdrop for these classic songs

Oxfordshire Youth Music Theatre is a group of exceptionally talented singers, dancers and actors aged between 14 - 19 years old. Drawn from across the county, the company has built a reputation for high-quality performances and is proud to have launched the careers of a number of West End professionals.
