For schools

Music in schools

Oxfordshire Music Hub enables all schools to deliver a rich and varied music curriculum. We build positive relationships with schools in the Oxfordshire area and have put together a range of resources to support music teaching.

The National Plan for Music Education

In June 2022, the refreshed National Plan for Music Education (NPME) was released. It sets out what all schools should do to enable children to access a musical education.

Pitch Up curriculum development tool

Pitch Up is a self-evaluative framework to support curriculum development. It’s a practical starting point for your music development plan that helps you celebrate your strengths and identify next steps.

The Model Music Curriculum

Published in March 2021, the government’s Model Music Curriculum guides music in schools. It’s been designed to act as a benchmark to ensure high standards in music education. In response to this, Oxfordshire Music Hub has created a progression of skills from Early Years to Year 6. This supports Primary practitioners to map progression across their setting.

Professional development for your teachers

Sharing best practice and new ways of working supports your teachers to deliver an inspiring music education to children in both primary and secondary schools. We offer a varied programme of continuous professional development (CPD) events throughout the year.

Instrumental, vocal and curriculum support

Our lead partner, Oxfordshire Music Service offers a wide range of services to schools from Early Years right through to A-Level. From whole class ensemble provision to curriculum support and instrumental and vocal tuition, find the service which best suits your school’s needs.
